Feeling Machine is an ongoing body of work that employs automation in it’s process. Through the use of an artist-built digital formula tool - several defined inputs are randomised - offering the Y/N parameters for each painting. (texture, colours, inclusion of text)
There are 3,529,470 possible combinations, which is ironic as it was conceived as a means of limitation. This creates an alternative relationship between person and machine... the artist is the production line machine in this case. This allows for consideration of the body of work as a whole, rather than on individual pieces. It is production as performance.
